Meet Our Residents

The Turtle & Tortoise Rescue is home to a diverse family of animals

From tortoises, chameleons, and bearded dragons, to a wide array of fish, birds, and mammals

Turtles & Tortoises

Currently, our Rescue houses over 250 turtles and tortoises in over 40 different species. We have turtles and tortoises from all over the world, including African-spurred, African Leopards, Pacific-pond, Asian box turtles, red-foot tortoises, an Indian Star, Greek and Mediterranean tortoises, a black-wood turtle and Russians to name a few! We’d love for you to come by and meet them, including the large desert tortoise, Sherman the Tank, or the resident greeter, the giant African Sulcata, Apollo.

Aviary

The Rescue has become a protected destination for birds of all kinds — we have an incredible variety of ducks and ducklings, including Wood ducks, Mandarin wood ducks, Chinese Peking Ducks, South American Madove Ducks, as well as fair share of hybrids.

In our aviary, visitors will also find ring neck doves, Japanese quail, finches, cockatiels, love birds, and a Chinese yellow crested pheasant.

Americana chickens freely roam the ranch, and it’s also become a safe stopping place for indigineous birds of all kinds, including cranes, egrets, mallards, and others.

Reptile House & Fish Ponds

Living in our reptile house are four Australian bearded dragons (Spike, Mustang, Shela, and Redbeard), and three chameleons, Alberta, Grandpa, and Cami.

Our 12 ponds are home to a wide variety of koi fish as well as some very large goldfish.

Other Animals

Amongst the reptiles and birds, visitors will also find rescued mammals as well, including our resident rescued cats and dogs.  You also can’t miss the Rescue’s all-female pack that has formed, containing 3 goats (2 of which are Nigerian pygmies) an alpaca, and an emu.  It’s quite interesting how all the animals here have learned to co-exist with one another, forming unique bonds and unlikely friendships.
