Our Facility
An ecologically-friendly place for animals to thrive and for people to learn
We’re committed to making our 5-acre rescue a place that is good for animals, good for people, and good for the environment through conservation, sustainability, and education.
Our ranch is home to over 300 animals at any given time, many coming from neglected homes, indoor environments, or other harmful situations, with a handful of endangered and protected species.
Each pen we have here has been designed to be species-specific, with plants and structures similar to wild habitats for the most ideal quality of life. While some animals are here to stay, others are provided a temporary home while they heal before releasing them back into their natural habitat or adoption.
We have over 12 ponds fed by underground springs and naturally filtered by pond cabbage. Some ponds are home to water-dwelling turtles, while others house koi and goldfish. Solar panels provide the energy for the heat pads in the reptiles’ enclosures as well as power for their heating and lighting systems.
We grow most of the animals food ourselves — such as mulberry leaves, cactus pads, cactus prickly pears, hibiscus flowers, and grape leaves. We also have an extremely large diversity of succulents and trees, with a number of fruit trees such as lemons, grapefruit, apples, and pears.
Through education, outreach and volunteering, we strive to sustain and promote thriving populations of all turtles and tortoises.
We hope to improve awareness of these diverse and amazing creatures among children and adults through tours, fundraisers, volunteer opportunities, and educational talks.
Upcoming Projects
The ranch has had a considerable amount of work done to make it as self-sustaining and eco-friendly as possible, and we’re continually striving to improve its function.
Improving accessibility for individuals with wheelchairs or disabilities by further developing and widening our sidewalk systems and improving the bathrooms.
We also want to expand the orchard and the tree garden on the property to include more mulberries, apsens, birches, and redwoods, and every viable variety of fruit tree.
